DO THEY KNOW WHAT A LESSON PLAN LOOKS LIKE? DO THEY KNOW THEIR TEACHERS' SPECIALISED AREAS? DO THEY THINK THAT THESE THINGS ARE IMPORTANT.? DOES THE SPECIAL ED. SUPERVISOR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SPECIAL ED.? WHO IS GUARDING THE GUARDS?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6178330661968922056.post-43300660561008842392014-11-12T19:31:13.603-05:002014-11-12T19:31:13.603-05:00I know that principals who have been appointed lat...I know that principals who have been appointed lately, have been put into place, apparently. just to fill the positions. Not only principals but also their assistants. No thought has been given to their educational qualifications,or worse, to their teaching experiences. How can these people relate to the young teachers or give guidance to them and the students in their care? This is happening from the top down. People who know NOTHING about childhood development, or the sociological or philosophical aspects of education, are making educational policies for our schools and being paid six-figure salaries. Think about it. No wonder our children are failing. Imagine a teacher is placed to teach six grade math and he/she is giving the wrong information,or students do not know their tables but the supervisor advises the teacher to let them use the calculator instead. Teachers are being made to teach out of their areas of Specialty and I can go on and on.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6178330661968922056.post-2717720645862639332014-11-12T18:37:15.368-05:002014-11-12T18:37:15.368-05:00I AM VERY HAPPY TO HEAR THAT NEW TEACHERS ARE BEIN...I AM VERY HAPPY TO HEAR THAT NEW TEACHERS ARE BEING HIRED. I OFTEN WONDERED WHY IT WAS / IS SO DIFFICULT FOR PARAPROFESSIONALS WHO, BY MEANS OF FOR SOMEUNKNOWN THE 'CAREER LADDER', HAD OBTAINED THEIR BACHELOR'S AND EVEN IN SOME CASES, THEIR MASTERS DEGREES BUT, FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, COULD NOT GET A TEACHING POSITION, NOT EVEN IN THE SCHOOL WHERE YHEY ARE PRESENTLY EMPLOYED.I EVEN KNOW OF ACASE OF ONE WHO WANTED TO LEAVE TO WORK AT ANOTHER SCHOOL, BUT THE PRINCIPAL WOULD NOT RELEASE THE PERSON, SO THAT PERSON IS BEING 'HELD HOSTAGE'THERE , AND IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE FRUSTRATED EVERY DAY.IT IS AN ABUSIVE SITUATION. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR PARAPROFESIONALS TO BECOME TEACHERS?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6178330661968922056.post-7295061934193833452014-10-26T19:53:46.475-04:002014-10-26T19:53:46.475-04:00Hi, I'm in the same boat as Michael, I've ...Hi, I'm in the same boat as Michael, I've been working as a sub-para since March '14 at the same school, and they want to hire me, but there is this freeze. My administration seem to think it opens once a year for a brief time, can anyone confirm this to be true? This is an unbelievably crappy situation for sub-paras.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6178330661968922056.post-33849031709609111582014-10-16T09:45:05.285-04:002014-10-16T09:45:05.285-04:00I've been working as a sub-para since feb 2012...I've been working as a sub-para since feb 2012 and within the last year I have been actively attempting to get hired full time without success.
